I hope this is okay, as this is lyrical rather than literary. I am planning on getting a text tattoo of just the word "unfold" in reference to a song. I am pretty positive that I want it to be in simple Times New Roman, but the only thing I'm unsure about is the placement. Hopefully you guys can give me some of your opinions to help me decide! ( cut for awkward photos of my arm )

Long time lurker, first time poster. Hello, all!
I'm planning on getting a quote from a Mountain Goats song entitled 'The Young Thousands.' Yes, it is indeed lyrics, and for that I'm sorry. It's just that the advice here is always wonderful. It'll be my first tattoo, and I have already settled on the placement- the top of my foot. I know that it's a pretty intense place to get work done. What do you guys think? Maybe share some of your experiences with text tattoos on the feet?
My problem is that I just can't seem to settle on the perfect font. I've gone through dafonts.com, and have come up with a few ideas. Help me pick? I'd appreciate it very much. Also, I'd like to hear any of your advice or feedback.

Hey guys, this is my first time posting so have mercy on me. I was thinking about getting "For nothing this wide universe I call, Save thou, my rose, in it thou art my all" on my ribs in two lines, as originally written. I'm an actor and this sonnet is the first sonnet I've ever performed and will continue to try ( and fail) to perfect. I suppose I'm second guessing the placement of it and just want everyone's overall opinion of the quote.

Hello literarytattoos!
I have a portion of Allen Ginsberg's 'Aether' I've been wanting to get tattooed on me for a long time (Madness is intelligible reactions to unintelligible phenomena.) The issue is placement. I plan on entering into the field of clinical psychology when I'm older so extreme visibility isn't going to work. I was thinking of my upper arm, that way I can wear cardigans or 3/4 length sleeves, but also let it loose in a short-sleeve shirt when I'm not at work. I also REALLY want to be able to see it for myself, so the back is something I've kind of thrown out the window.
So my question is - does anyone have a tattoo (especially a text tattoo!) on a SMALLISH upper arm? I feel like the quote is either too long or my arm is too small and I just can't figure out a nice way to break up the lines to fit it there. Does anyone have any suggestions for that? I know that small text blurs over time, so that's also an issue. Arg. Please help! I would greatly appreciate it!

There is some GREAT art around here, and I'm hoping I can get some help :)
I have discovered my bank account a little bit fuller than I was expecting so I would like to get one of my planned tattoos. I think "to thine own self be true" is better suited to the life phase I'm in, but I'd love some suggestions for font and placement. I don't tend to like anything too "Gothic" or scrolly in nature - I like a sans serif font.
As to placement - over my heart seems to make the most "sense" ... but how was healing? I'm a big girl with boobs to match, and I'm wondering how much the bra makes things worse :s
Also, is there any imagery that comes to mind that reinforces this idea? I'd be okay with text-only, and I could add imagery later... just thinking out loud I guess. Stylewise I'm a little bit in love with this artist, after discovering his page 5 mins ago ;)
Placement: how about the wrists? it's a lot of text for one, but I could put "to thine own self" on one side and "be true" on the other...? I dunno.
Thanks in advance for all your input! And if you read this far, I'll give you a not-so-text-only treat: my back and my right calf. 2 of the 6 tats I have currently, with plans for 3 more (including this one).

Hi all! Long-time lurker and occasional commenter, I have my first literary (and second overall) tattoo to share with you! I got it three weeks ago; the first two pictures were taken just after I removed the bandage, about four hours after I got it. The last one was taken this morning and is off-center because I took it on self-timer mode, haha. Anyway, I love it, it turned out exactly how I pictured it.

It's from the EE Cummings poem "My father moved through dooms of love." I've been writing poetry since I was 12 and one of my majors in undergrad was creative writing; I'd been wanting a literary tattoo after ogling lots of lovely literary tattoos here and elsewhere but I wanted the quote to find me. I was reading a collection of Cummings's work and came across this poem, and the line immediately jumped out at me and I knew I wanted it. I sat on the idea for 4-5 months while I debated about font (settled on Lainie Day) and some other details.

Back in September I got my first tattoo. It's 3 birds in flight silhouette in black with some pink swirls to represent breast cancer awareness. I'm thinking about my next one, which will be a literary tattoo. Jane Eyre is my favorite book and I was thinking about getting something from it, just haven't decided what I want...there's too many things I love from JE. I'd love to see some tattoos if anyone has JE ones.

I got this tattoo last week, and the picture is right after I got it done, hence the swollen redness. If you read the book then you'll get the tattoo. I love it so much and I'm really glad I got it done. Anthem is one of my favorite books! ( I am. I think. I will. )

Hullo literary tattoos, den of bookish iniquity! I'm looking into getting my first tattoo ever, and I'd like your advice. I think it'll be a line or lines from my very favorite poem: Ulysses, by Alfred Lord Tennyson.

Hi, I have been reading the community for quite some time. Finally getting around to posting. Just have to say that I love all the tattoos. As for myself I have about 4 as of now, 3 literary. I'll post up one, kind of a poor picture. It's from On the Road (I know there are tons out there, but I can't get enough of the book).
....and I shambled after as I've been doing all my life after people who interest me, because the only people for me are the mad ones, the ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, mad to be saved, desirous of everything at the same time, the ones who never yawn or say a commonplace thing, but burn, burn, burn, like fabulous yellow roman candles exploding like spiders across the stars and in the middle you see the blue centerlight pop and everybody goes "Awww!"
Had to get burn burn burn to tie in with other tattoos...

Really liking this group - hard to find lit tats, esp in Australia.... I have just one tattoo - which is Aubrey Beardsley's signature, but I want to get perhaps a text tattoo as well - what do you think about : In vino veritas ( "Truth is in wine" That is, "Wine will bring out truth.") I love my wine and this has meaning for me...worried about the font...hmm - any suggestions for something neat and not too typical? Thanks. oh here is my other tat :)

Neil Gaiman has been my favorite writer since I was thirteen, for millions of reasons I could bore you with (but won't), and getting something to commemorate his impact on my life for the last seven years seems fitting for the Endless, no?
